Preparing for Your Notarization Appointment
To ensure a smooth process for your appointment please make sure you have the following for your online notarization:
An email address so you can be sent your invitation for your appointment
The document you wish to have notarized ready for upload
Valid photo US government-issued ID that is current and contains your personal signature with an expiration date
Any other individuals (with proper ID) who will be signing the document
Payment for notarial services
Awareness and willingness to sign the document(s)
You will receive your invitation from Notarize.com. Watch your e-mail closely on the day of your appointment. Check your junk/spam/promotions email folders for the Get Started e-mail from noreply@notarize.com. Letting you that you have received an email with you session information.
The cost is $40.00 for the first notarial act with seal. Each additional notarial act (stamp) is $6. Each additional person on video (2nd signer or witness) is $6.
All signers must have identification. U.S. state ID or any country's passport is required. When you photograph your identification, lay it on a flat, dark surface in great lighting. Every signer must have a social security number.
The knowledge-based authentication (identity verification) will create five questions. KBA verifies data associated with your ID and SSN to confirm your identity. The notary cannot override the KBA identity check. The identity verification lasts twelve hours, so complete it before your appointment -- but not too early! We send the e-mail out the day of your appointment so you can't make a mistake and do the ID verification too early.
You will upload your document securely on the platform before your session. No need to email the notary your personal information. Password protected documents will show as blank pages on the screen. Remove password protection before uploading! We cannot notarize password protected documents at this time.
Don't sign your document yet. You'll electronically sign during your online session with the notary. LifeLock or any other kind of credit freezing program will cause identity verification failure. You must turn it off before you attempt this! You can turn it back on right after.
A firewall on a secure system will often prevent the audiovisual communication necessary during the online session. If you are on a work computer or secure work network, you will likely need to move away from that system and use a personal device instead.
Three Most Common Notarizations
Acknowledgement
The purpose of an Acknowledgement is for a signer, whose identity has been verified, to declare to a Notary or notarial officer that he or she has willingly signed a document. A signature for this particular notarization does not have to be completed while in front of a Notary Public, but the signer must acknowledge that the signature is theirs and that they signed of their own free will. Jurat
The purpose of a jurat — also known in some states as a “verification upon oath or affirmation” — is for a signer to swear before (God) or affirm (on their own honor) the truthfulness of the contents of a document to a Notary or notarial officer.
Copy Certification
The custodian presents the original document and the copy so that a Notary Public may confirm the copy is identical to the original. This notarization is not offered on all RON platforms. **Please Note** If your document does not contain the necessary notarial verbiage or certificate, you as the customer are required to advise the Notary Public on which notarization is needed. We cannot advise you, as that could be considered giving legal advice and is an unlawful practice if a Notary Public is not an attorney.
I notarize real estate documents, powers of attorney, property tax loan documents, medical directives, and much, much more.
Please reach us at info@infinitynotaryandnuptials.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The notary public will receive your document and upload it to the signing platform.
You will then receive a link to verify your identification. Follow the link to upload the images of your state ID and answer security questions. Once your identity is verified, you will receive a link to follow to meet your notary via webcam and electronically sign your document. The entire session will be recorded and saved as you and the notary public sign together. When your session is complete, you will instantly receive an e-mail containing the notarized document set.
You will not need to download anything. Just make sure you have a webcam, microphone, and the latest operating system updated on your computer. Run Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Others will not work. The web browser Chrome works best.
If multiple people are signing remotely, you must have a separate e-mail and device for each signer. Couples, including married couples, cannot share a webcam nor microphone. Each signer must have an individual computer or device, working audio, a microphone, and webcam. The browser on your device is important. Chrome, Firefox, and Safari will work. Linux, Internet Explorer, or Opera will not work. Chrome works best!
Please reach us at info@infinitynotaryandnuptials.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If your webcam is "attached" to another program, like Zoom or Facebook Messenger, you will need to "release" it in your settings so the signing platform can access the webcam to use during our session.
Internet speeds must be 3 mbps and reliable. A cell phone receiving e-mails and texts during signing session will likely drop as the connection is not steady/reliable. A computer or laptop will offer the smoothest experience as you sign.
At the time of your online appointment, you will open the invite sent to you via email and follow all prompts. You will also be invoiced the cost is $40 for the first notarial act with seal. Each additional notarial act (stamp) is $6. Each additional person on video (2nd signer or witness) is $6.

Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA) is used for identification confirmation. This is a state requirement because the notary cannot hold, bend, and inspect a physical copy of the signer’s identification. You have probably encountered KBA before. KBA requires that five security questions can be generated based on history found using social security number, credit report, and state-issued ID. For example, you may be asked past addresses or the amount of your car payment. A minimum of five questions must be generated. Generally, five years of credit history are required to meet this threshold. If your credit reports are frozen or locked for any reason, KBA will not function. Four out of five questions must be answered correctly within two minutes. Two attempts can be made within 24 hours. For KBA to work, you must: -be a U.S. Citizen -have a social security number -have a U.S. mobile phone number -have an e-mail that is NOT a Yahoo or Hotmail address -hold a driver’s license or other state-issued ID (Passport will NOT work) PHOTO ID You must take a photo of your ID during the process. It must be straight on, not an angle. No flash, in good lighting, and the photo must be clear.
Our online notarization appointment can move forward. You will receive a link in your e-mail to follow at your appointment time. During your session, we will each turn on our microphones and webcams to see and speak with each other over the signing platform. The notary will ask to view your ID, ask you to state your name, and ask you a few questions to determine that you are able and willing to sign your document. Your online notary will then apply her digital certificate signature and electronic stamp to complete your notarization. The webcam connection ends immediately once the notarization is complete. You instantly receive an e-mail with the completed document.
It is not recommended. A computer or laptop will probably save you time and provide a smoother experience. The speed and reliability of your connection really matters. Audio and video is uploading and downloading as you review and sign documents. That’s a lot of data! Receiving a simple text could be the tipping point that disrupts your transmission over the signing platform. Then the signing platform will drop everyone and you will have to start all over. That said, several customers have successfully signed using only a smartphone. The best results were with Chrome as the default browser on the phone.
Do you need Apostille? I assist with Official Apostilles for use outside the United States. Example of some documents that I can process are: Corporate Documents, Standard Background Checks, Adoption Papers, Affidavits, Diplomas, Transcripts, Birth or Death Certificates, Marriage Certifications, Naturalization-G24, Real Estate Documents, Any document that needs certification for use in another country. I can also provide the needed notarizations for your documents.
An Apostille (pronounced “ah-po-steel”) is a French word meaning certification.
An Apostille is the name for a specialized certificate, issued by the Secretary of State. The Apostille is attached to your original document to verify it is legitimate and authentic so it will be accepted in one of the other countries who are members of the Hague Apostille Convention.
